Many species of marine life are vulnerable to incidental harm from human activity in the sea, but these impacts can often be avoided by monitoring for the presence of marine life. In this pursuit, SSI has worked extensively on active acoustic monitoring (AAM) of marine life. Advancements in AAM have the potential to reduce shipstrikes and other harassment and injury from commercial activity.
